- Another possibility is a conflict between the two modems because of
- speed. I cannot connect reliably to my ISP's 14.4K bank of modems with
- my 28.8K. While the 28.8 SHOULD autobaud down to the lower speed, it
- does not always work. 95% of the modems that I connect to that are
- slower work fine, its that other 5%!. Try setting your dialer at 38K
- instead of 115K, or, get a phone number for 28.8K line to your ISP.
-
- BTW, some ISP's force there modems to a maximum speed far below the 115K
- that a 28.8K modem is capable of. Kind of makes you wonder about
- buying that 28.8 doesn't it? Ask your ISP.
